Martisor Music Festival (March)

Every year the first days of spring are marked by opening of the Martisor Musica Festival. The 47th edition will be held in 2013. During the first ten days of March, the best concert halls from Chisinau (i.e. Philharmonics, Organ Hall, and Opera Theater) and other localities host over 40 concerts.

The performances vary, from classical music, to folklore, to traditional and modern dance. The festival brings to Moldova artists from many countries such as Austria, Germany, Poland, Romania, Belarus, China, Russia and others. Admission requires a ticket which you can purchase at the theater where the performance takes place.

Faces of Friends (August)

The international music festival, Faces of Friends, is a major cultural event in Moldova and the region. The festival is held every year in Cahul, a small town in the south of Moldova.

During the two day festival, the best bands from Moldova, as well as artists from Romania, Russia and Ukraine, give pop, rock, and jazz performances. Traditionally, the night between the two days is "Jazz Night", with special, often impromptu, performances from various artists. Admission is free.

Gustar Music Festival (August)

Gustar Fest is dedicated music, arts, and traditional food, especially fruits, which usually takes place during the last weekend in August. It occurs over two days in the open air in a nature amphitheater near Orhei Vechi (Old Orhei).

Here you can enjoy natural Moldovan fruits and vegetables, grilled meats, and other local delicacies as you experience traditional music and dance. Throughout the festival, musicians from Moldovan and other countries perform. Admission requires a ticket which you can purchase on spot.

Maria Biesu Opera and Ballet Festival (September)

 

 

During the annual Invită Maria Bieşu festival famous orchestra conductors, opera singers, and ballet dancers perform on two stages in Chisinau. Artists come from Austria, France, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, Ukraine and other countries.

The festival was organized by, and now commemorates the life of, Maria Bieşu (August 3, 1935 – May 16, 2012) who was a Moldovan opera singer and the chief vocalist of the Chisinau Opera and Ballet Theater. Her artistic excellence brought her international recognition and invitations to sing in other countries.

Ethno Jazz Festival (September)

Ethno Jazz Festival is an international music event which takes place in Moldova in September and is organized by Trigon Ethno Jazz group. It has become Moldova's principal jazz fest. Jazz artists from different countries perform during this festival. The festival promotes contemporary culture and cultural exchange through music. Retro-Mai (MAY)

VATRA announces event season opening  between the 1st and the 3rd of May in a retro style within VATRA Ethno-Cultural Complex.

We are going to host a large outdoor event in a fresh spring atmosphere and a picturesque view – the Retro May Festival. There will be exhibitions of about 100 vintage cars and motorcicles of Moldovan and foreign collectors, retro costumes and outfits and antiques of a special value. The atmosphere will be spiced by traditional meals cooked after original recipes. During the whole festival there will be performing national and international music bands that have marked generations, as well as local performers with a special retro program. Enjoy a spring escapade with your friends at VATRA!
